Anglers enjoy the antics of rainbow trout from the lake's bank, the pier, or on an electric motorized boat as the fish dart through the clear waters and spring from its depths in an elegant display of nature's vicious cycle. Visitors to Round Lake State Park love to hike the trails that wander around the lake and through the trees as gentle breezes whisk sweat from raised heads. Within the park, there are wide grassy spaces where families picnic or play lawn games. Fishing is active in the spring but peters out later in the year. Wolf Creek runs alongside the campground, and it is wide enough to allow kayak, canoe, and boat traffic on its tranquil waters. Situated within the city limits of Coeur d'Alene, it is an easy walk to restaurants, shops, and entertainment.

While the pull-through sites accommodate rigs up to 70 feet in length, the back-ins are limited to rigs 40 feet long or less. This spot offers 65 RV campsites, 23 of which are pull-throughs, and the pads are a mix of gravel and grass. Located 40 miles south of Round Lake State Park in Coeur D’Alene, ID, is Wolf Lodge Campground. Other amenities: Restrooms with flush toilets, warm showers, fire rings, picnic tables, dump station If they require some supplies, Sandpoint is directly across the river, reachable via a bridge or boat. Many visitors to the area of Round Lake State Park choose to use this campground because of its isolation. During hunting season, this campground fills quickly as hunters use it as a base from which to roam the neighboring terrain. The fishing in the river is excellent, and hiking trails run along the riverbank and duck into the forest. The campground overlooks the Pend Oreille River and provides a horizon with magnificent views of the Selkirk and Cabinet Mountains. Each site sits beneath a canopy of pine, fir, or cedar. All 38 campsites are pull-through and are rather primitive with no water or electric hookups. Located 3 miles north of Round Lake State Park is the Springy Point Campground.
